Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Mummy Elisabeth Montcalfe's father, wealthy archaeologist Lord Montcalfe, is dead - or so it seems. The soon-to-be-wife of Sherlock Holmes's cousin calls in the infamous detective to prove her father is really dead since his remains have not yet been recovered by the authorities. You, of course, play Sherlock Holmes. Holmes is without Watson in this adventure and is seemingly alone as the butler simply allows Sherlock into Montcalfe Manor and seemingly disappears. But that feeling of being alone disintegrates when it appears that one of Lord Montcalfe's mummies is missing and someone is prowling about just outside the mansion. Puzzles abound in the 35 explorable rooms throughout Lord Montcalfe's booby-trapped mansion. Solving one thickens the plot and will allow you further access into mansion. Naturally, these puzzles become harder as the game moves on and the player will need to search the screen carefully. There are some periodic helpers such as the magnifying glass to zoom in, a hand icon to pick up items, and sometimes a spanner icon to indicate an object you can interact with. You may also combine items in your inventory. Did Lord Montcalfe truly believe he had unleashed a mummy's curse? Are the myriad of traps just to protect his treasures? Who is that sneaking about outside and what do they want? Is that a real mummy trying to kill Sherlock Holmes? Become Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective and find out.
